People 2000 years ago ‘Tried Jesus’ by going to where he was, and letting him touch them, or speak to something in their lives. It was more than a one-off. Many of these people literally ‘followed’ Jesus, wherever he went.

e.g. The Bible says an outcast with a skin disease came to Jesus, fell on his knees and said, “Sir, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus said, “I am willing. Be clean” and touched him. Immediately, his skin disease was cured.

e.g. An educated man came to Jesus at night and plied him with questions. Jesus told him, “The truth of the matter is that unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of Heaven.” It took the man a while to give in. But he became a secret follower of Jesus, and when Jesus died, it was he who helped prepare his body for burial.

Jesus said, “Come to me all you who are overworked and weighed down, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, and you will discover rest for your souls.”

Because Jesus now lives in Heaven, you can’t physically go to where he is.

However, the Bible teaches that Heaven can clearly hear and see things that happen in our world. Jesus even knows what you are thinking.

This means that children’s bedside prayers are heard in the throne-room of the universe.

In the same way, Jesus hears when you speak too. Find a place you can be alone. Say something like this:

Jesus, I’ve tried so hard to make my life work out properly, but it keeps failing. Somehow I’ve collected baggage along the way.
They say that you are trustworthy, non-judgmental, strong yet gentle, and an expert in fixing lives. I’d like you to fix my life Understand me. Set me free from my baggage. Tell me who I really am, and what it means to really live.
I ask this with every fibre of my being, holding nothing back.
I know that you’ve heard me.

What happens then? We can’t say exactly. Jesus does different things for different people. Just look at our stories or look at our bible resources.
